Wieder ein schickes Smartphone. Zwar ein Blackberry, dessen Service ich eigentlich nicht brauche, aber der Rest ist ja auch so ganz brauchbar scheints.

Aber halt, da ist ja ne Kamera? Ich dachte immer, Blackberrys wären Business Smartphones? Naja, doch wieder nichts für mich. Genauso wie das Bold…

On the Exchange Client Server Infrastructure (XCSI) support team we use Windows Mobile emulators on a daily basis to troubleshoot customer issues. One thing I’m often asked is how to install them. The directions have never been clearly listed online (unless you’re developing for the Windows Mobile platform since they come with the development tools) so it can take a lot of searching to pull all the required bits of information to finally get it installed. I wrote the following directions to help my colleagues to quickly install and run Windows Mobile 5+MSFP and Windows Mobile 6 emulators without having to install the development tools.

Schon wieder ein ganz toller Grund, das iPhone zu vermeiden… man könnte den Begriff “Naziphone” in die Welt bringen

Der Computerkonzern hatte Podcaster zuvor offiziell zurückgewiesen, weil die Anwendung eine Funktion des Podcast-Bereichs in iTunes “dupliziere”. Das hatte für viel Kritik in der iPhone-Entwicklerszene gesorgt. Neben Podcaster waren bereits mehrere andere Anwendungen zurückgewiesen oder später gesperrt worden. Noch hat Apple auf die Vertriebsaktion nicht reagiert. Der Konzern könnte das Zertifikat des Entwicklers ungültig machen und die Ad-Hoc-Distribution damit unterbinden. Apple kontrolliert die iPhone- und iPod-touch-Umgebung bislang streng: Alle Anwendungen sind kryptographisch signiert und können auch aus der Ferne deaktiviert werden, wie Steve Jobs in einem Interview einräumte. Sinn dieses “Kill Switches” sei der Schutz vor zu spät erkannter Malware. “Hoffentlich müssen wir diesen Schalter nie einsetzen.” (bsc/Technology Review)

Ein Test des Treo Pro bei Golem.

Obwohl der Treo Pro sehr klein und leicht ist, stellt er ein vollwertiges Smartphone für den Unternehmenseinsatz dar. Mit direkten Schnellzugriffen auf Kalender und Nachrichten eignet er sich gut, um den Büroalltag effizient zu organisieren. Mit Office Mobile und Push-E-Mail kann man auch unterwegs produktiv arbeiten. Wer Windows Mobile 6.1 als Betriebssystem schätzt, für den ist der Treo Pro ein interessantes Gerät. Größtes Manko neben dem kleinen Touchscreen ist allerdings die QWERTZ-Tastatur, die mit ihren abgeflachten Tasten nicht mehr so gut zu bedienen ist wie bei früheren Palm-Geräten.
