Damit ich das wieder leichter finde… Eine simple Möglichkeit um zwei Macs über Netzwerk zu syncen für Ableton Live

1) go to your airport icon on the top left of the screen and choose “create network.” Name it anything you want.

2) open your prefrences -> network and create a new location. Turn off everything but Airport. Manually enter your IP address as 10.0.0.1 on the one computer and 10.0.0.2 on the other. enter your subnet mask as 255.255.255.0 on both computers.

3) Next go to your Audio/midi setup and choose the MidiDevices Tab. Then click on the Network object

4) In the top left create a new session by pressing the + button and name it. This is what other computer users will see as your session, as well as the name of the virtual midi port OSX will create.

5) In the bottom left where it asks who can connect to me choose “anyone”

Do steps 2-5 on the other computer you wish to connect to.

6) Have your other computer choose the airport network you created earlier by clicking on the airport icon at the top right. (the network will have the name you gave it earlier).

7) Now go back to the midi/network box and select the other session under directories and connect.

there will be a lag so adjust the midi clock delay to compensate.

MacOS 10.6 und Novatel MC950d

nachdem mein OSX 10.6 Update da war, habe ich es natürlich sofort installiert letzte Woche. Was ich nicht sofort bemerkt habe, war dass mein UMTS Stick von novatel nicht mehr geht. Da ich mit dem Laden grade erst umgezogen bin, und das Internet vermutlich (eventuell, wahrscheinlich nicht) erst ab 08.09. geschalten wird, hätte ich natürlich gern Internet Zugriff gehabt, genau dafür habe ich ja den Stick. Und natürlich ist zeitgleich kein anderer Internet Zugang verfügbar (wofür auch sonst der Stick?), so dass man die Lösung nicht recherchieren kann.

Mittlerweile habe ich gekuckt, und festgestellt, dass ich nicht der einzige mit diesem Problem bin. Die voraussichtliche Lösung gibts hier, testen muss ich das erst noch heute abend.

So, den alten Treiber installiert, und alles funzt wieder. Grade rechtzeitig, schliesslich brauche ich dieses Wochenende den Stick auf der Tattoo-Convention Eggenfelden um meinen geliebten Chronix streamen zu können

So, weil ich da immer wieder drüber stolpere, wenn ich einen unter Windows freigegebenen Drucker anbinden will, blogge ich das hier als externes KnowHow

The first thing I tried at work, after installing Leopard today, was to add a printer, which is a Canon PCL. Usually in Tiger, I connected to it via SMB in our local windows server, like this:

smb://login:password@name _of_server/name_of_printer

But with Leopard, I just couldn’t add any shared SMB printer. No matter what I tried, only Bonjour, IP and AppleTalk printers were available to install, but not my usual Canon PCL.

Maybe you remember in Tiger: when we needed to add another printer in the Advanced tab, we held down the Option key while pressing Add, and the next screen would pop up the “Print to Windows via SMB” option. But no such trick in Leopard, it seemed.

Well, to get the Advanced tab choice, I had to customize the Add Printer toolbar: there you can add a handy Advanced button. Press that, and there you’ll find the Tiger functionality hiding!

Googles Chrome für Mac OS X « Newloki’s Weblog

Da hat doch tatsächlich jemand eine Anleitung geschrieben, wie man Chrome für nen Mac kompilieren kann. Naja, wers braucht… Ich hab’ ja Chrome auf beiden Rechnern wieder deinstalliert, und warte erst mal bis die Rauchschwaden sich verziehen…

Im moment gibt es noch keine vorkompilierte Version von Chrome für Mac OS X, jedoch hat Google eine Anleitung veröffentlicht, die jedoch auf Englisch ist.

Im übrigen bin ich der Meinung, wer seine Software selbst kompiliert, sollte auch ausreichend Englisch können
