Do you have pics where you cut the isolation? I gave up on that and now have probably the first netbook with externally mounted (duct-taped) antenna
And, same here with GPS… seems to work, I see it log something in the Dell connection manager, but no fix.

I have installed the WWAN 3G/GPS antenna, the one on the above pictures, I cut the factory isolation from one side, put the antenna underneeth and then covered it again also with mounting tape. I have no flickering screen and the 3G works like a charm. GPS works but can’t get signal fix. I have tried everything and different drivers/software.

Danke für die ausführliche Instruktion
Alles wurde erhalten, hat das Modem sierra mc8775 festgestellt
Die Antenne hat einen WIFI eingesetzt, änderte bios ab,
sim reader hat vorn auf beiden Seiten zusätzlich gefestigt
Für die Zuverlässigkeit.
Der Bildschirm bis ordnete, aber wenn die Zusätzliche gefordert wird
Die Antenne jenes und bis zu ihm werde ich gelangen.

kleiner Statusbericht:

Novatel EU850 passt problemlos und wird von windows 7 sofort erkannt und per windows update installiert.

als antenne hab ich die zweite wlan antenne benutzt. empfang ist damit wunderbar und wlan geht auch noch problemlos

hab jetzt also ohne spuren am gerät zu hinterlassen und löten zu müssen umts nagerüstet

danke nochmal für deine Hilfe beim BIOS patchen!

Just remove the Plastic stripe on top of the PC (the one with the Power Button and Quickstart Button). You can lift that up carefully, starting at the hinges, it’s not screwed. Afterwards you can take out the keyboard (beware, it still has the connector under it)

Noch ein Nachtrag zum SIM-Halter: Ich denke das festkleben mit Pattex reicht nicht wirklich, jedenfalls bekomme ich heute nach einigen Karten-Wechseln die Anzeige “keine SIM-Card”. Denke mal dass da evtl. eine Lötstelle nachgegeben hat, ich muss nochmal kucken ob man das nicht besser befestigen kann…

Kannst du mir ne Quelle für die UMTS Antennen nennen?

Würd den Umbau gerne ebenfalls vornehmen und hab bereits die Karte und dank dir ne Quelle für den Sim Card Halter. Jetzt fehlen nurnoch Antennen
